Tom Hardy's Career So Far

Having already appeared in Band of Brothers and Black Hawk Down 2001, he came to prominence in Star Trek Nemesis 2002, which was the end of the Next Generation period of the show.

He played a clone of Picard and is young enough to be almost unrecognisable in that role.  Youthful of countenance but already showing that he could punch his weight with the big boys.

He continued to work through the early 2000's with stand-out performances in Bronson 2008 (utterly compelling, must see) and Layer Cake 2004.  While not yet taking Hollywood by the vitals, he was building his portfolio of work with A-List stars and directors.

It was Inception 2011 that made his breakout role.  It garnered 8 Academy Awards and is one of the top 25 highest grossing movies of all time.  This film pushed him clearly into the A-List and has made him one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood today.

Lesser known movies that feature Tom Hardy are the aforementioned Layer Cake 2004:

with Daniel Craig as the lead in a proto-Bond movie if ever I saw one; another good film to see is Tom alongside Shia LaBeouf and Jason Clarke in Lawless 2012:

as well as the role for which Hardy absolutely should have taken the best actor Oscar (to add to the alternate-universe-where-talent-is-more-than-fame version where he already had one for Bronson) when he played both Ronnie and Reggie Kray in Legend 2015.

Seriously if you haven't seen either Legend or Bronson get on them now.  The other main films that deserved mention are, of course, The Dark Knight Rises 20123 and Mad Max 2015, which cemented his fame in the movie industry worldwide.  Mad Max, in particular, is sure to spawn sequels so you can check rumours on that topic here.

He appeared in The Revenant 2015 to help Leo win his Oscar.

So, firmly established as a legend already, he continues to turn out good performances.  He was little-used but good in Dunkirk 2017.  It seems that he now has the freedom to pick roles from a wider selection of choices.  His recent TV part in the acclaimed BBC drama Peaky Blinders is a standout example.

Let's all hope that the career of Tom Hardy is long and fruitful and that he is already over his slight dip in acting form.

Why did it all go wrong, Tom Hardy?

In the second part of this expose on the faltering careers of past acting greats we focus on one who many may argue is not yet a great at all, but still yet to achieve such heights.  Well, a dip it may be, and maybe less serious even than Denzel's recent form ( see here ) but one has to admit that going on previous works, Tom Hardy's career has certainly seemed to hit a low point lately. Mr Hardy's break-through role must surely be the third and final Christopher Nolan Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises in which he played a small human-sized version, minus the drug craze and addiction, of Bane.  In this film, he certainly presented his acting chops to the universe and also cemented his reputation as a man not afraid to beef up for a role.  After star turns in such as Star Trek Nemesis, as well as the excellent Steven Spielberg TV show Band of Brothers one would be expected to assume Tom was headed for the very top. What can we say about the awful and pointles...

BUY WALKING DEAD MERCHANDISE FROM EBAY 22:37 4-3-18 As it stands currently, the story that Fox was planning to remake The Walking Dead with big-name stars in the main roles and famous directors attached to each and every one-hour episode has turned out to be reliable.  A google search has revealed mostly hits to alternative news sites and a few really far out blogs only.  11:08 5-3-18 Still no confirmations on the story.  Right now the stars mentioned are scheduled to be involved with other projects, so unless it's a big secret we have to conclude the story is false.

Don't Forget Your Staging

Kerbal Space Program is the best game for children or adults.  This is a simple fact.  There can be no dispute.  Developed by Squad, a software company based in Mexico City and famous previously for pretty much nothing as they seem to have been spending day and night on this awesome magnum opus. So with setup and mode pushed aside, when you, or your inquisitive child, with a brain all ready to soak up inspiration and creativity and gosh darn it even rocket science, you will initially see this screen for building your works of genius.  This is the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) and this is where your first mishaps will surely take place.   Note how easily the components simply stack together, like internet-age stickle bricks.  This means that building a rocket - or what neither looks nor functions like any kind of space vehicle - easy and fun and hardly ever frustrating.  While this game starts perfectly simply, the learning curve i...
